I have been interviewing Second World War evacuees since 2008 and my latest book, Britain’s Wartime Evacuees, took 8 years of research. You can find it at https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/1848324413?ie=UTF8&camp=1634&creativeASIN=1848324413&linkCode=xm2&tag=guerevacoralh-21
26 MARCH 2019 – I have a few copies left of the two Guernsey Evacuation booklets I produced – the front covers are shown below. If you would like to purchase a copy for £5.50 (this price includes post and packing in the UK and Channel Islands only) please contact me via the private message box at the foot of this webpage.
My latest book was published in December 2016 and is called ‘Britain’s Wartime Evacuees’ – it contains stories from evacuated mothers, teachers and children in England, Northern Ireland, Scotland, Wales, the Channel Islands and Gibraltar. It also contains memories from those who cared for evacuees during the war and from officials who were involved in the evacuations of 1939 and 1940. I also examined wartime newspaper reports and official documents relating to the evacuation of civilians

A NEW BOOK ON SECOND WORLD WAR EVACUATION IN BRITAIN
I do not interview Guernsey evacuees only. From 2013 onwards I have been gathering evacuation stories from all over Britain - and beyond - not only from children but also from the evacuated mothers and teachers who accompanied them - who spent the war years in England, Ireland, Scotland or Wales. At the same time evacuees have given me copies of their treasured wartime photographs, letters and diaries.
Paulette (above) was evacuated to Cheshire with her Guernsey school, where the children were financially supported by kind Americans. Paulette herself was financially supported by Eleanor Roosevelt, the wife of the American President.
