I provide schools and colleges in England and in the Channel Islands with workshops on ‘The Guernsey Evacuee Suitcase Experience’, delivered in 1940s clothing. See testimonials below from schools.
Below are Guernsey’s St Andrews Primary School children during my recent Workshop:
I am an enhanced CRB checked STEM Ambassador for History. The children learn about real evacuees, write a Red Cross letter, watch films and images, and engage in re enactment activities. A negotiable free is chargeable. See my shop for booklets and films for purchase
I recently delivered workshops to several Cheshire schools and also to 4 Guernsey Primary schools – what a great experience! I also screened our evacuee documentary in Guernsey. More to follow later, but you can see a Guernsey news film clip covering my Workshop at the 4 Guernsey schools at:

I provided a workshop to Bury Grammar School – feedback provided below:-
“Dear Gill
Thank you so much for your engaging Suitcase Experience talk that you shared with our Year 6 girls at Bury Grammar School today. The girls and myself were fascinated with all the facts, figures, video tapes and actual evacuee suitcase plus its contents that you talked about. The fact that the lady you showed the video interview with was from Bury, made her story even more accessible, as the school she talked about, and the places she had visited as an evacuee, were all places with which the girls were familiar. They loved en-acting the cramped boat conditions across the Channel and felt the discomfort and the fear that the evacuees would have felt as they were inspected by the Health Inspectors on arrival at the port. Your video footage, hands on resources and evacuee labels for the girls to make all well supported the content of your talk as well as re-enforcing work we had already undertaken in school.
I would have no hesitation in recommending your services to friends and colleagues.
Many thanks
Fiona Chick (Year 6 Teacher BGSG)
